G’s Restaurant, Gold Coast, Qld.

  • When at Cottee Parker Architects David was approached by a client operator of food outlets in University Campus locations to assist with their bid to secure a restaurant site at a Gold Coast campus location.

  • Working together, the team was successful in the bid and managed the completed fit out, including a satellite coffee outlet positioned in the plaza outside the restaurant.

  • The fit out made use of economical fittings and finishes and was delivered on time and on budget.

  • The coffee outlet was extremely successful and was for a time the most profitable site on campus.

  • The restaurant and coffee outlet were awarded an Australian university campus operations award.

  • Some years later the first restaurant was closed, and a new one was created in the ground floor of a new building recently completed on the same campus.

  • Based on the success of the first project, David was commissioned to design the second restaurant.

  • Due to the extremely tight budget materials and finishes were carefully selected to deliver ‘bang for bucks’ and still meet the expectations of the university.

Main Beach Apparetment, Gold Coast, Qld.

  • A returning client approached the team to become involved in a total refurbishment of an existing apartment on the Gold Coast.

  • The condition and aesthetics of the existing apartment were not exceptional, but the absolute beachfront location justified a full renewal.

  • The client was specific in her requirements and had much of the finishes already selected.

  • The team worked closely with her to deliver a successful outcome.

  • The redesign involved structural alterations to increase ocean views and open the kitchen to the dining area.
